How do I prepare? (If I have a lot of time until the exam!)
- Search the contact to German/Austrians/Swiss, ...
- The more often you speak German, the easier it will be for you.
- For example, you can register for a club, depending on your hobbies. In Germany, there are clubs for every hobby. What are your interests?
Structure of the German oral exam
How long does the exam take?
- Exam preparation: 20 min. (Goethe & ÖSD - 15 min)
- Exam interview: 15 min. - Your speaking time: approx. 2-3 min. for each part of the exam
In the preparation time:
- During the preparation time, make notes about the parts of the exam that will help you in the exam.
- Do not take the notes on the task sheets.
- Do not write whole sentences, only key points. Reading whole sentences is not desired in the exam.
During the exam:
- Appear friendly and confident. Bright clothes can also help.
- Listen carefully and answer! The examiner has to evaluate you - show how well you can speak!
- Do not hold monologues.
- Try to keep eye contact. This is sometimes more difficult when you speak than when you listen.
- No yes/no-answers!
